Applications in coastal and nature conservation, as well as the dredging of waterways
Toyo Panzerpumpe DPH
Broder Christiansen from NC Küstenschutz, Erd- und Wasserbau, based on Sylt, carries out targeted sand nourishment operations to protect beaches and islands.
Using dredging vessels, he extracts sand from the seabed and pumps it hydraulically to the coast, where it forms wide protective strips. He carries out this work together with his cooperation partner, ROHDE NIELSEN Nassbaggerungs GmbH.
In addition, he deploys TOYO armored pumps with hydraulic drives to desilt harbors and locks in a targeted manner. These pumps remove sediment and keep waterways clear. In this way, he combines efficient coastal protection with sustainable hydraulic engineering and desilting technology across the entire coastal region.
The TOYO DPH submersible pumps with agitator are designed to handle solids and abrasive media at extremely high concentrations.
The DPH pump is a centrifugal pump with a closed impeller and a special agitator. The rotating motion of the agitator homogenizes sedimented solids within the liquid, allowing them to be pumped continuously and at high concentrations. A robust construction made of durable material with a special design, a low-speed motor, sufficient weight, and a heavy-duty coupling give the pump a long service life against wear, resulting in economical operation.
The impeller, wear plates, and agitator are made of high-alloy chrome steel casting (24–28% Cr). A reinforced short shaft, combined with a series of specially designed bearings and a set of proven lip seals (running in an oil bath), provides reliable sealing even under the toughest operating conditions.
Maintenance and repair of the pump are straightforward. Two wear plates — the lower one adjustable — ensure that maximum pumping capacity is always guaranteed. The pump is driven by a high-performance hydraulic piston motor, which results in the following features: The adjustable motor speed allows flow rate and delivery head to be regulated according to working conditions.
It is possible to pump solids concentrations of up to 70% by weight and densities of up to 1.4 kg/dm³. The pumps can be mounted on an excavator and driven by the excavator's hydraulic system.
The DPH submersible pumps do not need to be fully submerged (oil cooling is provided by the hydraulic drive system). The DPH pumps run on biodegradable oil. Wear parts are available in various material grades.
