THON Kanal- und Abscheiderservice GmbH Hildesheim was commissioned to carry out an investigation of a sewer by means of camera inspection.
At the affected section, the sewer has two parallel channels in DN 1500. The investigation took place over a length of 300 m per channel. The expected volume flow was calculated with approx. 600 l / sec. each (approx. 2160 m³ / h).
Since camera inspection is only feasible at a very low water level, this level had to be gradually lowered at two manholes upstream of the investigation section. This method was also chosen, among other things, because access was only possible through sewer manhole covers of 60 cm each. Thus, only 2 pieces each of suction and pressure hoses in DN150 could be inserted through the manhole.
A total of 4 sewage bypass pumps of type EVA 350 with 4 power generators of type STEP 100 (105 kVA) were used. Each was alternately pumping over into the neighbouring, parallel sewer.
The rental period of the gensets as well as the required accessories and pumps was 1 week.
The EVA 350 is a self-priming electric sewage bypass pump unit with a delivery volume of max. 600m³/h of water. Mounted on a galvanized steel base frame is a horizontal sewage pump with screw centrifugal impeller. The vacuum support is provided by a dry-running, low-maintenance vacuum pump with 100m³/h air capacity. The galvanized air separation chamber located in front of the water pump separates any air from the water, so that the water pump conveys only the liquid medium. This combined system provides a safe, fast suction and a high vacuum. In addition to the open design, the unit is also available with a sound insulation hood, which can further reduce noise emission. The applications of such a Sewer Bypass Pump are various, e.g., in municipal applications, canal reorganizations, sewage conveyance, sewage sludge conveyance, transfer pumping measures and many more.
The power generator type STEP100 Kompakt (105 kVA) also has a galvanized steel base frame and a double-walled 24 h tank with a volume of 534 l.
