Application for trenchless sewer by-pass rehabilitation and septic tanks

With the formation of connected settlements, hygienic problems arose due to waste, sewage and flooding. Thus, already in ancient times, the first drainage systems were formed, which in the course of time were installed underground, forming the sewerage systems we know today. Especially in large cities, the network of pipes and shafts has to cope with several million liters of wastewater every day. This leaves its mark and so parts of the sewer system have to be checked every few years and rehabilitated if necessary.

In the past, streets were completely torn up for sewer rehabilitation along the route, but this method can be avoided with modern procedures. The so-called inliner method has established itself as the dominant method. This method is a modern way of sewer rehabilitation that avoids dirt and noise pollution, as well as high costs. First, a sewer TV inspection is used to determine which sewer sections need to be rehabilitated. Then a pipe cleaning is carried out and afterwards a PU-coated hose made of hard-wearing needle felt is inserted from the outside into the sewer section to be rehabilitated. The sewer is sealed at two points. The wastewater produced is then temporarily diverted (usually above ground) using the BY-PASS method. An ideal tool, which masters this task excellently, is the wastewater unit from HÜDIG type DIVA 650.

The unit, equipped with the screw centrifugal impeller, is capable of conveying even coarse contaminants and long-fibered solids in the wastewater without any risk of clogging. With a capacity of up to 750m³/h, the unit is capable of pumping large quantities of wastewater or other dirty water into the nearest receiving water. This aggregate is therefore suitable for heavily polluted water, mixed with solids (fecal matter, sediments etc.) and is therefore mainly used for dewatering in pipe, sewer and pipeline rehabilitation. In addition, the DIVA650 can be used for pumping out basements and flooded buildings.

After a long search for a suitable technical solution, the municipality of Esch found what it was looking for in the DIVA650. In addition to its use in sewer rehabilitation, the unit will also perform general pumping work at the city's wastewater treatment plant.
